Budget-Conscious Home Office Makeover

It was time to declutter, clear the paper clutter, and makeover our home office. Our goal was to revitalize the space while keeping the entire project under $1,000, including furniture.

We painted the walls with Valspar Signature Interior Paint + Primer in Adley Grey, available from Lowe's here. Since this product is paint and primer, it saves you time and has Scuff Shield Technology to resist scuffs, scrubs, and stains. The Wagner Smart Edge Roller and the Smart Flow Roller (shown below) made the job go quicker. One of the walls required some drywall repair, so Dap 12330 DryDex Interior/Exterior Spackling made that job easy.

After we finished painting, I got the fun job of installing a hard-wired smoke alarm similar to this one. Before tackling the project, I called my son for advice. He told me to turn off the electricity before uninstalling the old alarm and installing the new one! Thanks for the tip, son!

I painted the tabletop white and placed it on top of two IKEA filing cabinets for a roomy desk. I ordered this Pencil Drawer and then installed it underneath the desktop. Two white bookcases flank the windows, which are covered in soft pink drapes. We purchased the Ergonomic Executive White Leather Height Adjustable Task Chair from Amazon. The Benitez 76" Wide Faux Leather Tufted Back Convertible Sofa by Mercury Row, which accommodates an overnight guest, is from Wayfair. If this sofa is unavailable due to supply chain issues, you may find a similar sofa here.
