As we reflect on the Christmas season, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate this glorious time of year. According to Christianianity.com, noel is Christmas and means good news in French. We were given the greatest gift of all that night in Bethlehem, Jesus Christ. 

God has called all Christians to spread the good news. To accomplish this mission, He gave us gifts to use for His glory. In Galatians 5:22-23, we learn that the Fruits of the Spirit are "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." These are the behavior patterns from the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives. They reflect our attitude. We also possess spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit used to carry out God's plan. These are our acts of service. For example, one of my spiritual gifts is the gift of hospitality. Let us practice love and kindness while using our spiritual gifts, whatever they may be, to spread joy to those we encounter at home, in the grocery store, in our neighborhoods, and online.

Remember that Christ is alive in us, and we are to extend the greatest gift of all, Jesus, to those around us. Be the light someone needs today; shine your light by being the hands and feet of Jesus!

One of the most favorite Christmas carols is "The First Noel," so it makes sense that noel is a word we use in English to celebrate or share the good news of the birth of Christ! 

 Let us reflect on the song's words as we celebrate Jesus' birth.

The First Noel the angel did say

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;

 In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep,

On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,

Born is the King of Israel.

Romans 12:6 reminds us that God, through Christ, has given each of us gifts to use for his glory.
