Concrete Mold Paver DIY

We decided to do a DIY paver pathway from our side garage door to the driveway last summer. “How hard could it be, I’m a DIYer?” I said to a landscaper. Keep in mind, that my husband had open heart surgery in 2020 and had five bypasses. I knew that he was not able to do the heavy lifting.

The paver molds, which come in various shapes and sizes, were ordered from Amazon then we purchased the concrete mix locally before designing our layout.  My daughter’s boyfriend graciously picked up the concrete from the store, helped me mix some of the concrete, and poured it into the molds when I was tired.

Now we have a fabulous-looking pathway from the driveway to the side yard and don’t have to track through the grass. Doing this small project took a lot of teamwork, but it was rewarding!

Here are the easy-to-follow steps:

  1. Level the area

  2. Mix the concrete in a 5-gallon bucket according to the package directions using a concrete mixer attachment. You may want to cover the top of the bucket with plastic as it tends to fly out the top.

  3. Pour the concrete into the mold.

  4. Use a concrete finishing trowel to level the concrete.

  5. Let the concrete dry, lifting the mold before it is completely dried.

  6. After you’re done, fill in the gaps with sand or pea gravel.
