Kitchen Faucet Upgrade: A DIY Project

An Empty Nest DIY:

Our kitchen faucet was leaking after 16-plus years of wear and tear. We’re empty nesters, so we had time to do the task ourselves and save some money along the way! First, we turned off the water at the shut-off valve under the sink. We had to remove the old faucet, which required the correct tools since the space under the sink (far left picture) is tight. After consulting with my brother over the phone, we determined what tools we had and what we needed to buy. Of course, we made a few trips to the hardware store for the correct items! An adjustable wrench allows you to loosen nuts of various sizes. A basin wrench is especially handy in this narrow space. We purchased this  Delta Abbott SpotShield Stainless 1-Handle Deck-Mount Pull-Down Handle Kitchen Faucet (Deck Plate Included)from Lowe’s.

After scrubbing the sink with Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser, the sink was bright, shiny, and looked new!

It is very satisfying to save money, learn new skills, and update your space!
